Do You VooDoo?
I have such a great team of officiants that I work with, so when one of them told me this story from a recent wedding I wouldn’t wait to share it with you.
As is customary with each of our staff we always arrive early for the ceremonies that we conduct. As Lon entered the wedding venue he checked in with the bride and groom to make sure everything was on schedule and then he headed into the ceremony area to do a sound check with the DJ.
After a few minutes tweaking the sound system, to make sure that everything would sound perfect Lon noticed a very distinguished woman dressed in a red velvet jacket, sitting down waiting for the ceremony to begin. Since there was still some time before the officiant had to be lining up with the groomsmen, he decided to initiate a conversation with the woman. Starting with some small talk the Lon learned that she was the grandmother of the bride. When he introduced himself to the grandmother she motioned for him to come a little closer; she had something important that she wanted tell him.
Leaning closer to him the grandmother told him that she knew who he was because she had visited our website and checked him out. She felt confident that he would do a good job for her granddaughter’s ceremony, but she had an insurance policy if it did not. Puzzled by the statement he waited a little longer and she told him, that if he did not perform a flawless ceremony that she had a doll that she would stick pins into. Talk about pressure!
The ceremony went off without a hitch and as soon as the last member of the bridal party walked down the aisle the parents and grandparents rose to walk out. With the officiant still standing in his place the grandmother turned her head toward the officiant, gave a wink of her eye, and a visible thumbs up. VooDoo doll averted: The officiant was safe for another ceremony.
And it all happened Down the Aisle.
